Alternative Education Programme

At Karibu, we are aiming to create a centre of excellence, to provide alternative schooling to young people aged 13 – 16 who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. This vital final chance for our students will help them develop new skills and rediscover their enthusiasm for their schoolwork. Classes will run from Monday – Friday during normal school hours and will cover all core subjects.  We will also work with the students’ families to help them build a supportive home environment. Our goal is to lead as many of our students as we can into further education or employment. We want our alumni to leave us with at least 5 GCSEs, and when necessary we will help them forward into their working lives through our connections with local businesses and employers. Wherever possible, we’ll get our young people back into mainstream education and support them to ensure that they remain in school.
